The present study focuses on interpretative elements registered on the recordings of two historical choros in Brazil: Flamengo by trumpet player and composer Bonfiglio de Oliveira (1891-1940) and Peguei a Reta by trumpet player and composer Porfírio Costa (1913-?). Comparative analysis was made between these two old recordings and two more recent ones. OLIVEIRAs Flamengo recording from 1931 was compared to Silvério PONTESs of 2000. On the other hand, Porfírio COSTAs recording of Peguei a Reta from 1948 was compared to Jonatan NASCIMENTOSs of 2002. The results reveal characteristic performance practices of each player as well as stylistic traces of their respective times. It also includes historical information about the use of the trumpet in the Brazilian genre of choro, as well as a list of works by Bonfiglio de Oliveira and Porfírio Costa. It also includes the transcription of the two works in question departing from an attentive hearing of the historical recordings.
