Resumen
Immediate implants became a therapy quite popular today by shortening the treatment time, smaller number of surgeries and better patient compliance to a tooth to be extracted in the oral cavity. A gap between the implant and the inner wall of the alveolus it is formed in thisprocedure, because the dimensions of the implant do not normally coincide with the dimensions of the dental alveolus. Because of the bone changes that occur physiologically after dental extractions, various bone augmentation techniques have been proposed in the literature to try to counterbalance the levels of resorption of the walls the ridges. One of these techniques is the gap filling with biomaterials was the main topic of this study. Although controversial, many studies have shown that in a gap smaller than 2 mm is not necessary to use any type of biomaterial to fill the gap formed between the implant and the bone. Spontaneous healing of this gap takes a bone filling bone with enough predictability and withsimilar aesthetic results when a biomaterial is used as a graft material. In larger gaps than or equal to 2 mm, the use of biomaterials is necessary because the bone filling of the defect peri-implant does not occur so often. This can result in a deep peri-implant pocket and mayhave serious aesthetic consequences or often evolve into a commitment of osseointegration culminating in the loss of the implant.
