The shoulder joint is a complex joint that allows great joint mobility, requiring synchronization between the static and dynamic stabilizers. The scapulothoracic joint participation of biomechanics of the shoulder as a contact point between the anterior surface of the scapula and the posterior lateral wall of the chest. It presents an importance in maintaining the nematic and correct biomechanics of the shoulder. The lesions in this joint can affect different structures contributing to a decreased function of the static and dynamic stabilizers of the shoulder. Isolated lesions may occur in the rotator cuff, glenoid labrum and joint capsule, and lesions secondary to failure of other structures. The aim of this study was to review literature on the biomechanical changes and kinematics of the pitcher's shoulder and emphasize the effectiveness of the exercises of the shoulder girdle, rotator cuff and posterior capsule stretching in preventing and treating lesions of the shoulder of the athlete. There is a variety of sports injuries in athletes who engage in activities with shoulder abduction and external rotation. The improved anatomical knowledge, biomechanics and kinematics of the cast allow the adequacy of functional rehabilitation for the athletes, reducing the time of removal and promoting prevention of future injuries.
