The present research faces the challenge of rethinking how we identify, classify and qualify urban voids. It is based on the hypothesis that urban voids constitute territories and processes permeated by diverse, often contradictory meanings and that the existing discussions on the subject are still insufficient to comprehend thoroughly the heterogeneity that compose this empty spaces. One specific question set the tone for the development of the work: how to analyze the urban voids, so as to encompass their negative and positive aspects jointly? In the search for answers to such questioning, we have found, in the concept of Heterotopia of Michel Foucault, a theoretical approach that enabled a new look at these spaces, highlighting the procedural aspects of their conformation. The multiplicity of foucaultian heterotopias allowed us to reshape the urban voids so as not to ignore the paradoxical aspects inherent in them. This is the argument we seek to construct throughout the text. Through the heterotopias the voids have gained new forms of expression and new subjectivities that we try to explore and evidence. To these new objects of analysis, we give the name Void-Heterotopias
