O impacto gerado por trabalhadores novatos em um centro de produção cenotécnica

Abstract

This study focuses on the impact caused by novice set designers and carpenters on the work of expert carpenters who are specialized in set building. With this purpose, this study has collected its empirical data in an important Art Production Center in Minas Geris, adopting the ergonomic work analysis methodology (EWA) and the theoretical framework offered by Dreyfus & Dreyfus among other authors. From the data analysis it became clear that the work carried out by specialist carpenters is complex and highly variable. This variability stems from: the characteristics of the artistic production, the different types of shows and for the lack of qualified personnel (both in the areas of set design and building), the variability of the raw materials and acquisition procedures involved and time pressure. In this context, this study argues that the experienced carpenters increase their stress and work load in the presence of novice colleagues due to both the inability of the later to deal with high variability levels and the need for the intervention of experienced workers in order to perform corrections and to transfer the tacit knowledge required for the execution of the projects. The study then concludes by considering how to minimize the stress and the pain caused by the increased acceleration, work load and stress for the finishing of set constructions in experienced carpenters, and offers suggestions related to the personnel hiring policy of art production centers
