Resumen
Introduction: The Global Postural Reeducation (GPR) method has been used in clinical practice with reports of benefits in pathologies that affect the lumbar and thoracic spine. However, few studies aimed at proving the efficacy of the method, which become fragile the arguments in favor of it. Objective: To review the literature regarding the effectiveness of the Global Postural Re-education method in the treatment of disorders of the lumbar and thoracic spine. Methods: They researched up in the databases Cochrane, LILACS, Medline, Pedro, Pubmed and SciELO, 2014-2015 considering the terms: global postural re-education, global stretching, active stretching, lower back pain and chest pain. Results: We selected 25 studies that had the intervention the RPG method. After analysis, 12 references were selected of which 06 published in English. Conclusions: Studies have found suggested the effectiveness of the RPG in reducing pain, improves motor function, flexibility and spinal alignment as treatment of various diseases that affect the lumbar and thoracic spine. But only a few studies with statistically significant results of variables. Methodological limitations observed suggest the need for more studies on the subject in order to ensure the effectiveness of the method in this sample of the population.
