The diversification of practice settings in Dentistry courses emerged as a pedagogical strategy, in which students had the opportunity to experience learning and doing at the same time aiming the service training. In a country with very specific and different characteristics, this diversification has developed unevenly, under influences of factors and regional development programs have spurred the adoption of this educational initiative, such as the National Reorientation of Vocational Training in Health - Pro-Saúde. This research aimed to know the diversity of practice settings training in dentistry and the impact that actions subsidized by the Pro-Saúde I and II promoted in these training scenarios, as a public policy, and the contribution to the process of pedagogical change. The study was approved by the Ethics and Research of the Federal University of Minas Gerais, in the opinion ETIC 0532.0.203.000-10, developed in different stages. Initially virtual structured questionnaire was sent to those 198 responsible for Dentistry courses regularly deployed and in operation in Brazil, and then only to those 45 responsible for the courses included with the Pro-Saúde I or II. Document analysis was made of the reports of the courses included with the Pro-Saúde I, where the teaching activities in the service network and workload of the stages were the inclusion criteria. In step qualitative approach were interviewed five members of the Department of Management and Education for Labour (SGTES), the Ministry of Health, involved with the program, reaching its impact on dental education in health services. The study showed that 82.1 % of the courses adopted the spaces of Primary Health for training, 91% reserving at least 20% of their total workload to stage curriculum in public scenarios and 89.8% perceived that this network favored learning services. It was observed that the Pro-Saúde was an effective strategy in teaching reordering, adopting scenarios differentiated learning and incentive approach to teaching / service, leveraging a new reality in dental education.
