dc.description.abstractThis work aims to present and characterize the Detection, Alarm and Fire Fighting System (FFS), as well as its application and relevance to the different mining areas, beneficiation mainly, explaining its automatic, manual and hydraulic systems. The monograph focuses the various stages of the FFS project, which studies all locations that should be protected and creates the concept of the project, specify, from the premises of the mining company, the type of protection and classification of areas, the type of extinction, the network type employed, the detection type, the type of equipment, technology, software and cabling to be used, the locations that are going to be points of supervision and administration of the system, sets up the installation and maintenance, among others. It shows the significance of obeying the appropriate technical standards related to the subject, whether regional, national or international, and to obtain approval by the local Fire Department. It should be noted the importance and obligation of the enterprise owning a fire protection system, which is often neglected and ultimately endanger people, equipment and the environment. This work can be considered as an interesting bibliographical reference for queries regarding to FFS, mainly applied to mining, as well as a source for projects of this system.
