| dc.description.abstract | This work is a narrative review with the aim of analyzing the literature on the national scientific production nonadherence to screening. Reports a survey of the low adhesion of the female population in the area covered by the Health Unit Dr. John Fonseca in the city of Barbacena-MG, conducted from February to October 2012, women aged between 25 and 64 years. It is necessary for this analysis, the tumors constitute the second leading cause of death among women in Brazil, behind only the circulatory system diseases and ignorance on the subject by the female population of the catchment area is huge. In round numbers, women who do not do Pap smears in this health unit, represents 90% of the total female population and with the results found in 10% of tests performed, it becomes worrisome and need to find the reasons for this avoidance.
