| dc.description.abstract | The sustainability of the urban environment, although it is a relatively new agenda in Brazil, has reached the level of priority demand. That's because the predatory exploitation of natural resources has destroyed the environment. Furthermore, urban centers have become true rubbish dumps, sewer and pollution. In this context, this paper seeks to identify the municipal management tools that can contribute to changing this urban reality. They are presented, so the instruments of municipal planning regulated by the City Statute addition to the instruments of environmental control, for example, the Local Agenda 21 that may positively affect the well-being and environmental comfort of cities. For the case study was chosen the city of Ouro Preto, Minas Gerais, which has about 300 years of history and a protected urban setting. Such a case study added the preservation of historical heritage as another variable present in the context of urban regulation. So in order to understand the relationship of these three important aspects of municipal urban policy - the preservation, regulation and sustainability - the work in question dealt with the range of possibilities of Works and Building Code. Finally, in an attempt to identify the policies needed to transform urban areas into sustainable spaces, we tried to point out, from the recognition of the local climate of Ouro Preto, some architectural recommendations able to move forward in the consolidation of buildings committed to comfort environmental and energy efficiency. | |
