The article aims to analyze occupational hazards in the workplace in the public health sector, with professionals in the area. The work has a quantitative approach complemented with a comparative method. The bibliographic analysis of some selected articles, from sites like BVS and Scielo, was made between 1981 and 2019; with date from the Health Surveillance and Protection Portal of Minas Gerais, which show that there were numerous occupational risks described as: physical, biological, ergonomic and accidents. From the portal used, information on confirmed cases of accidents covering biological and perforating materials was taken in the municipality of Sete Lagoas/MG, between 2017 and 2018. In these years it was possible to identify an increase in cases during this period, a situation that was not expected. Given this, it appears that the risk to which a healt professional is exposed is Inherent in their activity and the complexity of care. It is likely that some work environments present more risks than others differentiating according to the activities performed. The verifield publications allow us to conclude that nursing professionals are prone to greater exposure. Thus, it can be related to workers health-illness with understanding about occupational risks that involve the entire work process in the health sector. Thus, the need arises for prevention and possibly awareness, in order to reduce or eliminate the risks of accidents, arousing interest in occupational health and safety policies since the training so that practices that have helped can be taught to engage in the safe form of such activity throughout working life.
