The present work encompasses all efforts in the development of ambient ionization techniques in mass spectrometry. In a first chapter, it was performed studies on the construction and optimization of a low temperature plasma ionization source, followed by applications of the constructed ion source, in the repellent analysis and detection of its active substances directly on the skin, counterfeit perfume identification and study of organosulfur reactions in garlic. In all these applications, the technique proved to be efficient in ionizing the analytes of interest, highlighting its ability to detect substances directly on human skin. In addition, the construction of the source was inexpensive and the technique allowed rapid analyzes to be carried out, operating under ambient conditions. The second chapter consists in the modification of the paper spray ionization technique by using derivatizing substance-doped graphite to improve the sensitivity of complex matrix analysis. The modified chromatographic paper was used for analysis of aldehydes in cachaça, triacylglycerols in soybean oil and analysis of ginseng tea extract. The proposed technique was characterized by low cost, operational simplicity, short analysis time, in addition to being efficient in promoting selective reactions on the surface. Both ionization techniques proved to be advantageous for use in laboratory analytical routines.
