dc.description.abstractBring an object of study the experiences and stories read by children and adolescents at risk immersed. Experiences are relevant in building values and codes of life of each. These are readings that turn, widen the life forms of dialogues and experiences, leading readers to think usual and unpredictable. Considers reading as a source and form of ownership of information and knowledge, which favors the construction of ideas and actions to encourage the reader to (re) construct against the adversities of life. Its aims to analyze the influences of reading, coming from the non-formal education specifically NGOs in the world of life of children and adolescent supported by the Casa Pequeno Davis and Aldeias Infantis SOS in João Pessoa Paraíba, Northeast Brazil. Builds the theoretical foundation, socio-historically with inherent information pertaining to children, adolescents and their rights. Articulates the intersection of the domains between the field of reading and information science to understand the formation process of self-citizen player from the cognitive and social, it is part of the action to read in the context of education is not formal.Uses the qualitative approach, the phenomenological method, etnomethodological guidelines to subsidize the route methodological research. Uses participant observation, interview supported in sensitive listening and drawings commented; life story topical. Concludes that the practices of readings taken in the House Small David and SOS Children's Villages are directly related to the proposed inclusion and rehabilitation of children and adolescents participating in their social projects, since the information mediated by reading compose a knowledge that leads to autonomy, resilience and empowerment. Highlights the need to expand discourses in the field of information science, reading and relating to your readers, as is its use, and what is its effect on the lives of people with trajectories minority access to reading. Means creating a discursive field in Information Science, or a space fruitful discuss policies to encourage reading with proposals that do not restrain and imprison the subject-reader, but ensure the rehabilitation, citizenship and dignified life for underprivileged extracts, social, political and culturally
