dc.description.abstractThe abomasal ulcers are important causes of indigestion in ruminants. It could have many predisposing factors and affect calves, lactating cows and bulls. The clinical signs are reduced food intake, emaciation and impaired production of milk, beef or development in young calves, which can affect financially the production system. In affected animals the fatality rate could reach 100%. Some predisposing factors are described like: abomasal displacement, subclinical ruminal acidosis, ketosis, metritis, mastitis all of them pathologies of the peripartum period. The ulceration process starts with the increased of the aggression factors like hyperacidity, infections or stress, or even when the mucosal barrier that protects tha abomasum is affected. The objective of this report is to debate the predisposing factors of abomasal ulceration, diagnostic thechniques, and its treatment.
