T With the advancement of science, smoking, once seen as a lifestyle is now recognized as a chemical dependency that exposes people to many toxic substances. The dependents of tobacco are the main victims of limiting and often fatal diseases such as cancer. Today smoking is internationally ranked in the group of mental and behavioral disorders due to psychoactive substance use. In Brazil, the frequency of smoking also generates concern to government agencies, which have stimulated local action for prevention and control, agreed with the Brazilian Program for Tobacco Control in Health Units This study aims at the elimination of smoking doctors in Health units in order to reduce the prevalence of smoking health professionals in the municipality of Estrela do Sul, offering formal support and treatment those wishing to quit smoking, benefiting the health of workers and making the multipliers of health promotion. To achieve this objective a literature review of supporting literature and analysis of scientific articles available in the scientific research of the Scientific Electronic Libray Online (SciELO) and the Latin American and Caribbean Literature on Health Sciences (LILACS) sites was performed with use of descriptors: Smoking, Smoking, Cancer. Hopefully, as a result, the cross incorporation of anti-smoking proposal to the essence of care for all health actions are permeated with encouragement, support and guidance to reduce smoking rates.
