Resumen
The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficiency and sensitivity of the kit based on microbial inhibition Eclipse 50® (Zeu Inmunotec) for detecting antimicrobial residues in raw milk. Samples from antimicrobial-free milk were inoculated with two different antimicrobial concentrations, the lower limit of detection by the manufacturer (Level 1) and the maximum residue limit established by Brazilian legislation (Level 2). For antimicrobials that have no limit in the country, legal limits established by the Codex Alimentarius or European Union legislation were adopted. The 19 antimicrobials from six different groups and positive and negative controls were tested with 30 repetitions/level. In relation to the level 1 the test was efficient ( error <5%) in the detection of 16 antimicrobials, and it was not for three antimicrobials: gentamicin, neomycin and lincomycin. These results indicate the need for the manufacturer to review these detection levels reported. For the level 2 (MRL) of 19 antimicrobials tested five presented unsatisfactory results, and they were erythromycin, streptomycin, gentamicin, neomycin and lincomycin. The three antimicrobials tested from the group of aminoglycosides (streptomycin, gentamicin and neomycin) were not detected in the MRL, showing the low sensitivity of Geobacillus stearothermophilus var. calidolactis front of this class of antimicrobials.
