Resumen
This dissertation focus on the morphosyntax of Shimakonde, a Bantulanguage spoken mainly at north of Mozambique and Tanzania. The data were collected through fieldwork activities. The main objective is to examine the morphosyntax and the realization of the voice category in the language. The emphasis is on the non-canonical passive. In these structures, the morphology resembles the active voice, since there is no realization of the passivization morpheme {-igw-}, which usually occurs in the canonical passive. The verbal steam receives the morpheme of noun class 2 {va-}. However, this morpheme does not trigger agreement with any argument of the predicate. We assume that that the morpheme {va-} reflects a new morphological realization of the passive Voice.
