Resumen
In recent years, nanocomposites formed from polymeric materials and carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have been extensively studied due to their interesting mechanical properties and possible uses in various applications. In this work, nanocomposite films of poly (vinylalcohol) (PVA) and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNT) were synthesized by two different routes. They are characterized regarding to morphology, physical and mechanical properties. The nanotubes were chem cally modified and the effect of MWNT chemical functionalization in the synthesis and the formation of nanostructured films wasinvestigated. It was also considered the relationship between the routes of synthesis of nanocomposites and their properties. The results of swelling, mechanical strength and toughness have shown by the insertion of small amounts of carbon nanotubes has causedconsiderable changes in the properties of the nanocomposites compared to pure polymer. We investigated the biofuncionalization of CNTs with the enzyme glucose oxidase using the chemical route of activation of the carboxyl groups of functionalized nanotubes withcarbodiimides. We observed the feasibility of the synthesis of biofunctional nanocomposites. The results of biological assay (MTT) indicated that the nanocomposites are promising for use in biomedical applications.
