Vacation camps, knowing as leisure facilities are private institutions, non-profit or nongovernmental organizations where multidisciplinarity can be experienced. They are places where participants have the opportunity to socialize and to share experiences with people from different age groups and locations, as an opportunity to leave their routine in big cities.Although this type of activity is carried out in Brazil since the mid-1940s, it lacks theoretical basis related to leisure studies, including its philosophy and the process of professional training due to the variety of institutions and different work methodologies available. Considering the available literature in the area and the issue of lack of professional training inleisure, this study aimed to carry out a reflection on vacation camps. Specifically, to review the curriculum of professional training offered by theses institutions. Thus, we aimed to describe and analyze the professional training courses offered by two vacation camps, carriedout as part of their activities in their professional selection process. Moreover, as an attempt to analyse the courses curriculum, this study identified the methodological strategies used and work dynamics developed by the professionals responsible for these courses. This current study combined bibliographic, documentary and field research. The literature research was guided by the theories of the curriculum, and research on vacation camps and studies on professional training in leisure. The documentary research was made using printed materialdistributed to participants during the period of professional training courses. The field research was conducted through structured observation and application of semi-structured interviews with those responsible for administering the courses. The data was interpretedusing the technique of content analysis. It was noticed that both courses have a similar organizational structure and objective to train and qualify their professionals. It was also noticed that the professionals responsible for the courses came from different fields. It was identified five different factors that caused their interest in this area : contact with the theme of vacation camps during their undergraduate course, contact with other professionals working in the area; family influence, experience as a former camper, and selection process. Both camps seek the same type of professionals: young freshmen in universities who have time available for the work, which is carried out through participation in a traineeship. It was identified that the professionals responsible for organizing the courses have different ways of offering leisure. Furthermore, it was found that both courses have a similar curriculum, which includes theoretical and practical modules offered separately. In conclusion, I believe that thecurriculum of vacation camps, knowing as an open field, must be built in order to contribute to the production of critical subjects.
