dc.description.abstractMental health suffers direct effects of social and environmental dimensions of day-to-day as well as the way that this one lives. In this case it is for the patient to adapt to different situations of life, which requires intense cognitive, emotional and psychological stress. Although with all the other new forms of intervention in mental health, it is known that the indication of psychotropic drugs in certain diseases, including depression, phobias, anxiety, insomnia, epilepsy, and schizophrenia may be mentioned, among others, is required. The main objective of this work was to develop a plan of action for the conduct of treatment in mental disorders that affect the population treated in primary health care is effective and buoyed by scientific knowledge. Be made, first, literature search in the databases LILACS, MEDLINE and PubMed, using the keywords: Primary Care, Mental Health, Pharmacotherapy, and Addiction Treatment, as well as books of Psychiatry and Cognitive Therapy. We sought, therefore, show the conduct of treatment in mental disorders that affect the population treated in primary health care. It is hoped that the implementation of the action plan to reduce the use of prescription and for the population served in primary health care
