The purpose of the present work is to study how the description of death is present in the Tale of love and darkness, by Amos Oz, a book of memories that contains not only the history of life of Oz in Jerusalem of the 1940s, but also the life of his family and the Jews at the time ofthe diaspora. One can notice, however, that the main issue of the book is the death of Ozs mother. The hypothesis of the study is that when tackling this tragic subject, the author is not only remembering the fact, but transforming it into reminiscence as understood by philosophyand lacanian psychoanalysis
