The use of anxiolytics, antidepressants and hypnotics has increased drastically in the past few years. The current article studied a link/association between the increased consumption of these medications and the changes in the work environment, initially by maintaining production levels, including its worsening and the uncertainties of a society in deep transformation, within the neoliberal order. Primary data from Anvisa and other journals were used as research source for this study. The data collected, together with the data showed by the media, exposed the increased use of these medications as a result of a search to equilibrate and attenuate the effects of the stress in the work environment and the uncertainties about the future.
