Work in the field of nursing covers contact with acute or chronic lesions of various etiologies. It is observed that many sites do not use evidence-based protocols that support the conduct of nursing front of people with injuries. The treatment of acute injuries such as burns, as evidenced in the literature. However, it is identified that the Silver sulfadiazine cream 1% has been described by some authors as a favorable alternative to the healing process in the treatment of chronic lesions. This practice is the research problem of this literature review. The aim of the study was to identify evidence of the effectiveness of silver sulfadiazine on healing of chronic wounds. The theoretical and methodological framework was used to Evidence-Based Practice and Integrative Review. The sample was composed of two articles in English and Portuguese, published in 2011 and 2009 respectively. On analysis it was possible to argue that the use of silver sulfadiazine in combination with other agents (nitrate seriously) in the treatment of venous ulcers has been reported successfully in case studies. The silver sulfadiazine alone has proven to be effective in burns, which are considered acute injuries. Both studies point to an improvement of the lesions which used agent silver sulfadiazine. However, the biases observed in Section 1 and 2, this study did not allow to conclude whether there is sufficient evidence to affirm the effectiveness of this agent in the healing of chronic wounds.
