Helycobacter pylori is currently included in Helycobacter gender and is considered the main causative of gastritis and peptics ulcers, including gastrics and duodenals. The microorganism is able to achieve and establish the stomach, probably from the oral cavity. Stomach has a pH value extremely acid and is considered a lethal environment for most bacteria. Inside the organ, the bacteria are able to adhere under the epithelial cells producing urease and, therefore, ammonia, changing the environment to alkaline pH. Dueits carcinogenic potential, H. pylori is considered an important risk for gastric cancer. The aim of the present work was to perform a literature review related toseveral aspects of Helicobacter pylori, regarding to its etiopathogeny and its correlation with cross contamination and endoscopy procedures. To achieve our goal we searched for scientific articles, Microbiology textbooks, scientific online information focused on epidemiological surveillance of diseases. The literature shows thatH. pylori transmission after endoscopy procedure is a rare found. The possibility is about one in 1.8 million of endoscopic procedures performed. As endoscopes can be contaminated during the examination, H. pylori transmission could be due to failures in cleaning and disinfection process, allowing their survival and multiplication. One study indicated that H. pylori infection was not related to disinfectants resistance but with failure in disinfection procedure. In conclusion, considering the possibility of H. pylori transmission during an endoscopic procedure, it is necessary to investigate more this possibility
