dc.description.abstract | In the school learning context, emotion and cognition are mental functions that are closely related, since emotional state potentiates thinking and making decision skills. The neurobiological bases of the emotions are associated to neurotransmitters released by the limbic system and the autonomic nervous system. These systems, when activated, lead to a positive or negative emotional states. The positive state motivates behaviors reoccurrence and negative state avoids repetition of some attitudes. Considering the spectrum of positive and negative emotions, some are innate to humans and others are dependent on the sociocultural environment. In the childrens school environment, children experience various emotional states that result from social interaction and self- perception about school assessments. In the last years, the knowledge regarding emotion and cognition relationship, it is essential in the school context that the teacher knows and perceives this emotion-cognition dialogue of his students, in order to find pedagogical strategies that contribute to a significant teaching-learning process. | |
