dc.description.abstractWith the modernization of grids and increasing energy demands, it is necessary to look for more accurate and productive ways to ensure the reliability and continuity of the electrical system. Periodic inspections of distribution grids are an important tool for utilities to guide their maintenance programs to maintain power quality. This quality is monitored in Brazil through the National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL) by the continuity indicators: Equivalent Duration Interruption per Consumer Unit (DEC) and Equivalent Frequency Interruption per Consumer Unit (FEC). The aim of this paper is to present a case study in one of the sets and their feeders of a power utility (CEMIG-D), verifying the behavior of the continuity indicators against the faults that can be detected by thermographic analysis. The database applied to this work is made up of records extracted from the dealer's interrupt management system (GERINT) and indexes of variations of DEC and FEC provided by ANEEL. Approximately 3,000 occurrences and 43 failure modes recorded in the 2015-2018 observation period are analyzed. The applied methodology is the identification of the main recorded failure modes (power supply interruptions) that most impact the indicators, using a statistical computational resources to investigate the trend and seasonality of the events. Through the results, it is possible to identify the failure modes that are diagnosed by the predictive use of thermography, consequently reducing the occurrence rates. The final results are defined with the projection of reduction of indices that impact the final values of DEC and FEC, highlighting the importance of thermography in the process of managing the maintenance of assets in the electricity distribution networks.
