Resumen
Athletes are exposed to more injuries due to high load and intensity of training and games, and volleyball player who has the positioning of the hand above the head as part of the sport gesture exposes the shoulder to various dysfunctions and lions, the most common involve tendinopathies the maguito cuff and joint instability. the suprascapular neuropathy is a relatively rare condition in the general population, but often in sports due to pitch gesture that can compress, rub or pull the suprascapular nerve and consequently affect the innervation of the supraspinatus and infraspinatus muscles, therefore the injury has getting more importance. This study aimed to review what has been published in the literature on suprascapular neuropathy regarding diagnosis, conservative and surgical treatment in court volleyball athletes. the search was conducted in PubMed (MEDLINE), Lilacs, PEDro (Physiotherapy Evidence Database ') and Google Scholar in the period between January and July 2015. The results were selected 17 articles to write the review. Diagnosis involves clinical history and physical examination in addition to imaging studies to determine the nerve entrapment of the place and the gold standard performing electrophysiological tests. From the diagnosis, initial treatment is usually conservative involving anti-inflammatory and therapeutic exercises for flexibility maintenance, movement re-education, posture and better scapular stabilization. When conservative treatment fails or the cause of neuropathy already have surgical indication the approach can be arthroscopic or open, defined by the location and cause of nerve entrapment. although still the need for more studies on this condition currently suprascapular neuropathy should be considered whenever the athlete complain about symptoms related to nerve compression that does not happen irreversible damage and the athlete can return the best possible way to sport
