The healing process involves perfectly coordinated cascara of molecular and cellular events. These events are physiological processes, biochemical and dynamic view to the restructuring of the injured tissues. Proper nutrition is a very important factor for success in the process of wound healing, since the dynamics of tissue regeneration requires a good nutritional status of the patient and consumes much of their body reserves, so that nutritional recovery can bring better results in healing time. Objective: To describe the importance of nutrition in the healing process of wounds, analyzing relevant aspects that promote tissue repair in patients with wounds. Methodology: Literature review narrative which was based on a literature from January to November 2012 and queries in databases SciELO. Results: After the study concluded that the main nutrients associated with the healing process of wounds are: carbohydrates, proteins and lipids, vitamins A, B, C and E, copper, iron, zinc, selenium and water. It is suggested that are carried out in-depth research on the role of vitamin K in the process of wound healing, because this vitamin actively participates in the blood coagulation process.
