Resumen
Aiming to reflect on current challenges involving the Popular Education and Health and relate them to the work context of a Family Health Team from Belo Horizonte, we carried out this study, based on literature review and data produced in the everyday work of the author. Popular education and health, understood as a proposal for action that seeks to mobilize around the subjects of their right to health, is facing challenges as the need for expansion, separation of vocational training in relation to this conception, the little influence on management, medicalization of health needs and the commodification of health. It is perceived that the work context of the team is permeated by a lot of extra work and is guided by an educational approach focused on individuals rather than the collectivity, which complicates the use of the methodology of popular education in the routine of primary care services in health. However, you can meet these challenges and advance actions that seek to mobilize the subject and deal with complex problems of daily life as seen through the experience they had with women on coping with domestic violence. It is concluded that the challenges faced by popular education and health are very large, considering the entire capitalist system and its logic of commodification of health and human life, which makes it a necessary alliance between workers and users for longer-term advances are achieved in health and society as a whole.
