dc.description.abstractThe present study tells the story of a wind farm that completed ten years of operation. Composed of 28 wind generators of 1.5 MW each, the Wind Power Plant object of the study went through many occurrences, failures in the isolation of the generators, sealing problems, corrosion of the permanent magnets and metallic parts, which severely impaired its performance. To tell this story, the present study sought to analyze the facts that occurred, the solutions implemented, the history of the park's availability and a brief analysis of the wind turbines' performance. In order to dive into the proposed theme, the work provides an overview of wind expansion in Brazil and in the world. It also makes a brief bibliographic review, seeking to contextualize the main technological and operational aspects of the wind turbines, ranging from the extraction of kinetic energy from the wind, to the delivery of the electricity generated to the electrical system. Another important point that the work sought to present is in relation to the main failures in wind turbines described in scientific works in the area. In relation to the park under study, first, the work presents the constructive and technological aspects of the wind turbines, seeking to describe the details in relation to the operation of each component, highlighting its main characteristics. Second, it presents the main failures in the park and the solutions implemented. Finally, it presents an analysis of the availability and performance of the wind turbines.
