Resumen
The military personnel of Minas Gerais and their dependents are assisted by a health system formed by an agreement establishing mutual cooperation in the health care field, concluded between the Polícia Militar de Minas Gerais (PMMG), Corpo de Bombeiros Militar de Minas Gerais (CBMMG) and Instituto de Previdência dos Servidores Militares (IPSM), called SISAU. The SISAU provides comprehensive health care, comprised of medical care, dental, hospital, psychological and pharmaceuticals, to around 221,000 beneficiaries. To promote integrated care and health services is necessary to address the actions and pharmaceutical care services, since the majority of health interventions involves the use of drugs and that such use can be crucial to obtain the best results. Knowledge about the profile of users of the system, the drugs they use and how pharmaceutical care is organized are important to provide support for the proposal of strategies that contribute to the organization, prioritization and identification of pharmaceutical care. Thus, in the first part of this study evaluated the profile of drug use and health services by state of Minas Gerais military and investigated the factors associated with the use of drugs. A longitudinal study based on administrative data for the period between April 2012 and March 2013. The results show that 20% of the military was held received on average 3.2 drugs. The elderly, which correspond to 35.7% of users of drugs, used 4.4 medicines on average. The use of outpatient and hospital health services was positively associated with the use of drugs, especially hospitalization and emergency appointment, suggesting a possible role of drugs as a cause of complications or problems related to its use decreasing effectiveness for control of chronic health conditions. About 37% of elderly medicalized used inappropriate drugs according to Beers Criteria 2012. The second part presents an analysis of the organization of pharmaceutical services in SISAU having as theoretical reference the organization of care models in the form of health care networks and pharmaceutical care as a system of support for networks. Improvement of pharmaceutical care strategies should be implemented to contribute to the effectiveness and therapeutic safety of the state military.
