Resumen
The incorporation of electronic resources helped to define new genres in twentieth century classical music and also exerted great influence on popular music, primarily in rock, pop, and on the music produced by DJs, or electronic dance music. In fact, the latter genre is typically performed only using electronic equipment. The inclusion of acoustic musical instruments in the performance of electronic dance music opens new perspectives within the genre. The objective of this project is to create an interactive musical system for electronic dance music performance centered on a percussionist, who acts simultaneously as DJ and instrumentalist. The system consists of a small hand drum with a microphone and a movement sensor attached to its shell, acting as an interface that generates data to send to the computer. A digital controller pedal completes the set of complementary devices, adding extra control to the system. Thus, data from the captured audio, from the gestural controller, and from the digital commands is processed by the software, whose response creates a musical discourse related to the language of dance music.
