Resumen
The purpose of this paper was review all the scientific evidence regarding the
therapeutic interventions for socket preservation after tooth extraction and to assess
the potential benefit of such techniques and biomaterials disposable and its impact
on dental implants therapy and esthetics. On this way, a search was performed on
data basis: MEDLINE-Pubmed, BIREME, COCHRANE using the following key
words: esthetics, buccal bone, bundle bone, dental implants, bridge preservation.
Preliminarily a total of 88 studies were selected and after summary evaluation, 45
were included on this review. The mainly conclusions found were that alveolar ridge
preservation cannot avoid totally the resorption of the socket after tooth extraction but
dimensional changes should be minimized by some ARP techniques; immediate
implants seems do not modify the magnitude of alveolar bone shrinkage; correct 3D
positioning of the implants always guided by the prosthesis is a essential factor for
soft and hard tissues preservation as well aesthetical outcomes.
