In all societies there are means for the resolution of conflicts arising from personal disputes. In some countries, Alternative Means of Dispute Resolution are used as mandatory instance, prior to the court or, in others, as an alternative to the traditional justice system, as is the case in Brazil. The Conflict Mediation, which is one of the alternative media, has rarely been theoretically substantiated beyond the Theory of Conflict. Thus, this study came against the need to understand and explain the procedure in light of Social Theories of Conflict and Conflict Resolution, passing through the dimension of Conflict Transformation, has been strongly substantiated by the work of Bush, Folger and Lederach. Despite, in Brazil, most of the experiments Conflict Mediation being developed by institutions, it was observed that in studies by Annette Lareau on the positioning of people across the institutions, not always have such an active and critical stance, demonstrating a restrictive sense of rights. It is assumed that, so this kind of behavior would harm participants Conflict Mediation positively transform their conflicts. This study had the locus of research two Centers Conflict Mediation MEDIAR, Civil Police of Minas Gerais, in order to verify the hypothesis that do not have a passive positioning opposite the Institution, in a context of Conflict Resolution, enables the Transformation Conflict. The collected data were analyzed using qualitative research and document content analysis. While not claiming to analyze the effectiveness of the procedure performed by the institution to be quantitatively by the number of visits and whether they are achieving their goals; either qualitatively, the degree of satisfaction of people served; nor was the object of this study quantitative analysis to identify which variables were influencing the results above - which will be the focus of future work - the Transformation of Conflict was reached it was found even being performed by the procedure of Conflict Mediation institutional.
