This dissertation deals with the use of figures of repetition made by Cicero, famous orator and public man of ancient Rome, in letters written during his exile in 58-57 BC. It is aimed at analyze the use of such figures in their relationship with the argumentative process developed in those letters. The work is divided into three parts: the first, composed of three chapters, brings relevant information about Cicero, ancient epistolography and transmission of the ciceronian correspondence. The second part, in turn, presents a translation proposal of the thirty-four letters produced during the orators exile into Portuguese. Finally, the third part is composed of one chapter about figures and other that contains the analysis of research data.
