As comissões de controle de infecção e os obstáculos para a prática: uma revisão de literatura

The purpose of this study was to identify the main difficulties experienced by the Committees for the Control of Hospital Infection. The study was conducted by reviewing literature in national journals and theses and the perception of the author about his practice as a member of an executor of a General Hospital CCIH small metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. Analysis of the work study pointed to several challenges for infection control in health institutions. Among the obstacles encountered, we highlight the following grouped according to the central theme: Difficulties to perform Epidemiological Surveillance of Hospital Infections - microbiology laboratory, quality of data sources, quantitative human resources CCIH; Difficulties to develop PCIH - Lack administrative support, difficulties in implementing rules and routines, inadequate physical infrastructure of institutions, lack or insufficiency of material resources; difficulties in maintaining specific training in infection control - staff turnover and lack of motivation of the team.
