Renal lithiasis is a condition of high social impact and high cost, since it affects 5% to 15% of individuals at some point in life and also presents high rates of recurrence. Studies have shown that the diet typical of the industrialized countries, rich in sodium, animal proteins and sugar and fructose sweetened beverages, results in a high excretion of calcium, uric acid, oxalate and phosphorus and a decrease in urinary citrate and pH , thus favoring the formation of calculations. On the other hand, adequate consumption of fruits and vegetables seems to be a protective factor for the formation of calculi, because it is directly related to the ingestion of anti-lithogenic factors such as potassium, magnesium, citrate and fibrates. In addition, treatment of infectiontype and adequate hydration calculations is extremely important. This study aims to develop an intervention project to reduce the incidence of kidney stones through educational actions in the area covered by the Family Health Strategy Luxembourg in Sete Lagoas - MG. Before the situational diagnosis carried out by all the team and after a bibliographic review, an intervention plan was elaborated, discussed by the family health team in order to clarify and improve the prophylaxis of renal lithiasis formation. The bibliographic review was carried out in the Scientific Electronic Libray Online, Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online and publications of the State Health Department of Minas Gerais and the Ministry of Health, consulting publications from 2005 to 2018. The following descriptors were used: prophylaxis, nephrolithiasis, education, family health. The enlightenment of the population that covers the area of the Luxembourg neighborhood regarding prophylactic measures against renal calculus is not widespread, and through educational actions and teamwork, it is possible to reduce complications and even prevent the formation of certain calculations.
