The zygomatic implant appeared as a viable surgical alternative to rehabilitate patient with great atrophy bone maxillary through implant-supported fixed prostheses. The technique requires the professional knowledge about the anatomy of the area involved; their technical and biomechanical considerations. Currently there is a divergence of views on the feasibility of this surgical modality which has discouraged many surgeons to resort to this option for rehabilitation of severely atrophic jaws. A literature rewiew has been done to determinate the survival of this treatment. In the end is possible to suggest that the success of these implants is similar to the conventional implants, but the literature on the subject is still scarce and that we are aware of the indications, limitations and complications. However, it is undeniable benefits of this surgical modality.
