This work stems from reflections on the thought of Arnold Schoenberg and Pierre Boulez, taking as its starting point an authorial work: 5 Fantasias, for solo guitar. In 'System and idea' (Boulez, 1986, 1989, 2012), written in 1986, Boulez draws up an extensive critical reflection on issues related to serialism, starting from its sources in Schoenberg and the Second Viennese School. Such reflections stimulated me to compose 5 Fantasias for solo guitar in 2001. The present study analyzes the Fantasia II, in an attempt to provide a sufficient solution to the relationship system-idea, with special attention to perceptual issue that is the central focus of Pierre Boulez in his text.
