The purpose of this thesis is to show how Rhetoric and, especially, its rich pedagogy Rhetorical Pedagogy can make a major contribution to the teaching and learning of textual production, in terms of suggesting activities for this type of instruction. In addition, this study also has the intention of inviting scholars in the fields of Letters, Linguistics, and Pedagogy to investigate the history of Rhetoric and its particularities for the purpose of finding a meaningful path throughout this age-old art. The methodology used for the present inquiry was bibliographical research by means of tracking down diverse sources of investigation. We can state, with this study, that besides establishing itself as a kind of theoretical linguistics, a metalanguage on discourse, Rhetoric contains an excellent methodology for language teaching that may help both learners in the art of writing and scholars who require tools for the teaching of this important area of knowledge.
