dc.description.abstract | This paper presents the stone columns technology, which is a soil reinforcement system that in most cases these soils have low resistance characteristics (cohesive soils). Initially it will be presented some characteristics of this type of soil based on soil mechanics, also the main types tests used for this technology. With presentation of the main methods of construction granular columns, with an emphasis on stone columns and a small introduction to the history of stone columns.It presented some theories to soil behavior analysis with stone columns. And it finished the job with the presentation of some works that use this technology. Here in Brazil and Portugal. | |
