dc.description.abstract | The management by processes aims to achieve operational improvements in institutions, be they public or private. In view of this, the present work carried out by a member of the "BPM Academic" project team, whose scope is the mapping and modeling of the processes of the School of Information Science (ECI) of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), institution of public higher education, proposes a study of the theoretical and methodological foundations on Management by Business Processes - BPM and a literature review in the point of view of Information Science, to standardize the terminology of the area and for the alignment between the teams of the sectors of ECI, thus contributing to the understanding of methodological processes. The methodology adopted in this research is based on the qualitative method, since an analysis of the literature of the area was made on the theoretical and methodological foundations of Business Process Management (BPM). The use of different forms of research is justified, since the field in which the object of study is inserted, an area of Information Science, does not yet have a systematic and consolidated set of knowledge and research. In addition to considering the experience and practice of the author of this study exercised in the BPM Academic ECI project. This study was performed through the verification of a set of analysis categories in scientific articles. In view of the bibliographic research, it can be observed that the analyzed articles show how the BPM tool is well applied and used in the mapping of business processes and knowledge management, aiming to integrate the processes of an organization. And that both articles address BPM theories and their methodological foundations, evidencing satisfactory results in different situations and in different types of organizations. Always aiming for improvements in its processes and going against the objectives outlined in this work according to the area of Information Science. It is believed that this study will resolve existing doubts regarding the concepts and theoretical and methodological basis of Business Process Management and will contribute in a more consistent and informed way, both with regard to the execution of said project, and in the formation of a team increasingly enlightened and more confident of its performance. | |
