This research presents a study about the vocalises, which are part of the singers pedagogical practice and repertoire. In order to define them during this research we propose to classify them under three categories: the ones used for warming up and technique perfecting, the ones for studying and the artistic ones. However, the main objective of this paper is to highlight the presence of the Brazilian artistic vocalises in the national singing repertoire. To achieve this aim, we performed an analytical interpretative study of the vocalise waltz by Francisco Mignone, an artistic vocalise of the Brazilian repertoire that remains unknown to interpreters and the public. We also present a digitalised edition of the piece for voice and eight cellos and its version for voice and piano. This research also includes a study of the vocalise practice of two European schools that have contributed to the singing pedagogical practice in Brazil: the Italian and the French schools. We suggest some compositions of foreign artistic vocalises considered to be important works in the occidental music scenario. Nationwide we observe how the production of Brazilian repertoire of nationalist character promoted the creation of singing pedagogical methods that even in reduced quantity aimed at technically meeting certain specifications of the Brazilian vocal music. We still present a catalogue with Brazilian vocalised songs present in this research as a way to promote this repertoire, which we consider as representative and capable of enriching the artistic programs of every singer.
