Resumen
During the last decades, the trigger point (TP) Myofascial have received much
attention in the scientific literature as a significant contributor to the syndrome of
acute and chronic myofascial pain and the severity of their symptoms. The
myofascial trigger point is a sore point with palpable nodule in a taut muscle band. Is
often overlooked or misdiagnosed and can lead to chronic conditions. As the exact
cause of trigger point and its healing mechanisms are not well known, many
treatment modalities are used empirically, necessitating the clinical work associated
with scientific evidence. For the literature review was performed a selection of papers
through the Medline, PEDro and BIREME. It was also developed and sent to 20
therapists, a questionnaire in order to correlate the proposed treatment of clinical
data from the literature. Proposals for clinical treatment and found in the literature are
similar, except the approach taken by injection. Although the myofascial trigger point
is a common cause of pain and dysfunction in people with musculoskeletal disorders,
their formation is not clear hindering the literature and clinical consensus on the best
physiotherapy. Many questions about the formation and treatment of trigger points
are not yet established, further studies are needed for a better understanding of
musculoskeletal dysfunction.
