dc.description.abstract | Caregiver is an elderly man with special qualities that cares for the welfare, health, nutrition, personal hygiene, education, culture, recreation and leisure in the assisted person. The act of caring is complex. The caregiver and the person being cared for may have diverse and contradictory feelings such as anger, guilt, fear, anxiety, confusion, fatigue, stress, sadness, nervousness, irritability, crying, fear of death and disability. Such sentimentsamay appear together in the same person. So need to be understood as part of the relationship of both. This study aimed to perform an integrative review of literature in the data bases LILACS, SCIELO and UFRGS, in the pursuit of studies on caregivers of elderly people reporting difficulties in their daily lives, as well as identify the importance of developingeducational strategies to improve the health care provided tocaregivers of the elderly of the elderly and also propose educational strategiesto improve assistance to carers of the elderly. The results show that stress and cancellation of themselves, are part of everyday life for caregivers and that they lack information, support and someone to help them in daily tasks. It is important to developeducational strategies to support, guide and help these professionals as important in the life of the elderly. Currently in Brazil, are being developed several programs that benefit them, as espoused by some examples in this study, and these havehad positive results in the lives of caregivers and even peoplecared. It is suggested, therefore, to be developed and implemented projects that benefit this population, along with the training of health staff. | |
