Atendimento emergencial ao trauma de face em ambiente hospitalar: revisão de literatura

The increased incidence of facial trauma has caused emotional and economic impacts to be achieved, especially young people. This type of morbidity is caused by automobile accidents, which is responsible for about half of deaths in trauma patients. Therefore, the early treatment the healing process becomes more effective reducing the risks of mortality. For this to occur it is essential the knowledge of the mechanism of injury, which will provide information about the intensity of damage and how to proceed in addressing the injuries affecting the face, identifying those that can be potentially fatal. Among the protocols for emergency care is important to highlight the ATLS for their effectiveness in the care of trauma to the victim, being taught and used worldwide for over 30 years. The aim of this study was a literature review, by consulting articles and literature on the rescuer's conduct during the traumatized host to the patient and discuss the function of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon in hospital emergency service. This professional is critical in the care of facial injuries in order to obtain better results, with the knowledge of the ATLS program has proved useful in trauma patient care.
