dc.description.abstract | The prevention of musculoskeletal injuries has been discussed in the last years in sport. Injury prevention allows athletes have a greater ability to develop the demands imposed by sports. In addition, prevention programs spend more costs of care and rehabilitation of injured athlete. Therefore, the FIFA 11+ was developed as a warm-up exercises program with the primary goal of preventing injuries in soccer. The aim of this study was to perform a narrative review of the literature on the use of the FIFA 11+ program for injury prevention and performance improvement in soccer players. For this, a search was conducted in the databases PubMed, Bireme, MEDLINE (via OvidSP) and Scielo, including articles with the combination of the following keywords: FIFA 11+, injury prevention, soccer, football, performance. Sixteen scientific articles were included. These studies assessed the effects of FIFA 11+ program in the incidence of injuries and sports performance. According to the results, evidence suggests that FIFA 11+ program can reduce the incidence of amateur football players injury, male or female, and improve performance as to neuromuscular control. | |
