dc.description.abstractIn this work , we developed a research on the teaching of african - Brazilian visual art from the sculptural art of Mestre Didi , a Bahian artist- priest who produced works with a strong influence of religion in the African - matrix Candomblé . Considering the Law 10.639/2003 who decides on the compulsory teaching of Afro - Brazilian History and Culture in schools , this paper seeks to provide subsidy to the teacher to introduce the subject as well as a didactic sequence for the development of a research and production by the student . In addition , there is a discussion about the situation of the teaching of african - Brazilian art currently in school and what is " african - Brazilian art " as well as a presentation of the Master Didi , artist chosen to initiate this type of discipline as well as his work . This work was developed with the overall goal of knowing the visual culture of african - Brazilian culture and its potential so that we can build educational allowance for classes in visual arts with the main artist Mestre Didi .
