Resumen
Treatment of extensive osteonecrose associeted with the use of anti reabsorts: case report and literature review. Medication-Related Osteonecrosis of the Jaw (MRONJ), is a severe adverse drug reaction characterized by the presence of necrotic bone in the maxillofacial region, which is difficult for the healthcare professional to manage. It can cause serious consequences and diminish the quality of life of patients. Its main signs and symptoms are pain, edema, infection, soft tissue ulceration and radiographic alterations. Antiresorptive drugs are used to treat bone disease disorders such as osteoporosis, Pagets disease, multiple myeloma and uncontrolled bone metastasis, especially breast and prostate cancer. Its pharmacological action is an inhibition of bone resorption. Authors havent yet reached a consensus regarding the treatment, although prevention is the best strategy. The aim of this study is to review the literature and to present the most important MRONJ issues, its clinical and radiographic characteristics, history, risk factors, treatment, adjuvants and report a case related to the topic. Keywords: Bisphophonate related osteonecrosis of the jaw. Osteonecrosis. Osteonecrosis of the jaw.
