dc.description.abstractIntroduction: Shoulder problems are responsible for about 10% of all referrals to physical therapists, and the shoulder impingement syndrome the most common diagnosis between the shoulder pathologies, representing 44-65%, with pain and functionality as main complaint among patients. Manual therapy, including handling and mobilization is one of the techniques used for treating the pathology. Objective:The objective of this study is to report the benefits of manual therapy in the treatment of patients with shoulder impingement syndrome. Development: Manual therapy has been used for centuries to relieve pain and restore function. The use of joint mobilization as a form of manual therapy is increasing, because of evidence that support the effect on pain reduction. Studies in the literature comparing manual therapywith other physical therapy interventions watching what or what techniques are most effective in improving pain and function of patients with shoulder impingement syndrome. Conclusion: The revised articles presented pain and function improvement with the intervention of manual therapy, they are applied alone or combined with other interventions.
